2012 Resume

Another year was gone and Sonic is stronger than in the past years.

I want to make a resume of the most important things that Sonic give us on 2012.

• 3 Sonic Games hits the charts.

From december to early 2012 Sonic CD was the most downloaded game on PSN.

Also in Spain in GAME Store Sonic Generations 3DS was the most sold game for the console.

Mario & Sonic in London 2012 also were the 2º most sold game for Wii.

In PS2 Sonic Heroes was the 4º most sold game and Sonic Riders reached the 10º place.

In PSP Sonic Rivals 1 & 2 were the 7º and 9º most sold games.

• Good Start

In 2012 the franchise began strong because of the critical acclaim of Sonic Generations. If you remember Generations was the redentor game for a lot of sonic fans that had been far because of the bad games like sonic 2006.

• But was not enough

Eventhough Sega was really bad, they report loses for a value of $188 million. That force the company to reestructure itself. (A lots of Jobs were lost because of that).

Sega only recover a little bit because of the 3.28 Millions of sold games of Mario and Sonic London 2012 and the 1.85 Millions of Generations. (At this time Generations has sold 2.53 millions)

• Sonic 4 Episode 2 Hits the Charts

It may not be the most epic Sonic Game but was really fun and looks that that was enough for the fans because we make it the Nº1 Game on PSN from May until some months later.

Also in Xbox Live the game sold well.

• 12 Million of Digital Dowloads

Sega recently announce they will focus on Digital Games and it's look like was a good shoot.

Sonic CD, Sonic 4 Ep2 and other sonic games reached 12 Millions of digital (and legal) dowloads for mobile devices.

Recently Sonic Jump and Sonic the Fighters (for PS3 and Xbox 360) has joined to the action and is being well received.

I personally think that this could help Sega and complement the results of the AAA games.

• The Game who no one were expecting (Of course yes!)

Another good new, the HD remake of Sonic Adventure 2 was a best selling. 

In USA in october was the 2º most downloaded but during november and early december it was the most dowloaded.

In Europe was the most downloaded game from the very begining.

And in Xbox Live reach very good sales too.

• It's Racing Transformed 

The new sonic game was a critical acclaim, I posted in this blog more than 10 reviews including the always skeptical IGN who give a high rate, EuroGamer, 1UP and others, also in Metacritic the users reviews are excelent.

But the sales doesn't came as we spect it. Until now the game has only sold 390 000 copies. 

But remember that we are waiting the charts update and we spect better sales according to the succes on the UK charts.

I want to believe that during the 2013 the game will sell more, the game deserve it, but I will not wait this get better by itself. I will continue promoting the game with all my gamer pals, making tournaments in my school and stuff like that.

• 2013?

We have so much news about the new year, but we know that sega is preparing a AAA Sonic Game and some dowloadable games.

Could 2013 be a good year for Sonic? Well it depends of Sega's future releases and of course is about us too. So if Sega does what it is asked for we must correspond too.

UK loves SONIC!!!

Well, looks like All Stars Racing Transformed is recovering in the sales.

According to VGCharts the Xbox360 version of the new sonic game was the 36th Most Sold Videogame and it has 6 weeks on the UK Top100.

Other games of Sonic that reached the TOP100 were:

• Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Wii) on place nº33 with 58 weeks in the UK Charts.

• Sonic Generations (3DS): Nº50 and 57 weeks in the UK charts.

In this week Vgcharts will anounce the Global Charts and we expect that the Sonic games reach the highest positions.

That means that our effort is giving results, don't give up, promote the new sonic game to all your game pals.

A Call To All Sonic Fans

This is not a good new. According to VGCharts Sonic And All Stars Racing Transformed Sales are really bad. 

The last year I had a good memory, Sonic Generations reach the Top10 Most Sold Games, it doesn't matter that the game only be 2 weeks in the chartm the important thing is that he reach it. All the Webs were surprised about the succes of the game.

But I'm afraid this time is not the same

Since the game is available it only has sold 400,000 copies worldwide in ALL plataforms, is less than 80,000 copies per plataform.

Remember that when a game sales doesn't result well, something the studio lost their jobs, it would be a pitty than the guys of Sumo who has fight agains the time, the short budget and even more things doesn't receive the results they deserve.

And even more, weak sales cause damage to the Sonic Franchise. Think about it, if they released a good game (as I show you in all the reviews) and even then the sales doesn't reach the enough sales what can happen? They will start to devolop strange gameplays and everybody knows what happen next.

The Holiday Season is ending and if it is the best time to people buy videogames I don't want to imagine how the sales is going to be during the 2013.

But this can change, how?

SPECIAL POST Nº2

I have never imagine a thing like that.

But before that, The 7th Consoles Generations is about to end and if we remember, the new generations are not the best years of sonic, during the Mega Drive/Genesis-Saturn Transition, sonic lived his first crysis the things became worst and we even thought that sonic could disappear. Then in the Saturn-Dreamcast transition the thing were good but in a blink Sega stop making consoles and Sonic was forced to adapt himself to the others consoles. and in the next Generations Transition we all know what happen in Sonic 06.

Today we are in a match point, if you remember Takashi Iizuka has the intention to renovate Sonic. 

Today Sega and Sonic are recovering the confidence and support from gamers and the critics, also the most recent games are awesome, and are receiving high ratings.

But if the IIzuka Sonic Reboot is not well received we will begin again the same story. And  this  may be lethal because Sega is having economical troubles and depends on Sonic Games SALES to survive. 

And this is gonna be worst, because all the games industry is in Crysis, just see how many game studies are dead now, only this year we lost to more than 10 legendary studios.

Why? Because (haters gonna hate) a lot of gamer spend all his money in $60 DLC, seriously, there are a lot of gamers that only buy the annual game of an overrated saga that sell the same and the same all  the years.

The people is starting to give up, remember what happened a few decades ago? The first Videogame Crysis was made because a lot of awful games were released in a way I only see in today generation this could repeat.

The cost for develop a game is huge, so much that if your game doesn't sell AT LEAST 2 million copies you lose all your money. And this cost will be higher in the next generation.

This industry is having sales record but as I said that sales are not fair because a few sale almost everything and good studios are forced to close because of the poor sales. (Just an example: even Rayman Origins only sold 50,000 in a lot of moths).

This industy can colapse like in the past and here comes the thing I never imagined:

You ever imagined Sega and Nintendo COOPERATING? I not but Nintendo has recently mention that they would like to buy sega, If Nintendo own Sega they would not let Sega pubish Sonic Games with bugs and things like that. What means that? Sonic Games may be better.

This is just a rumor, but think, in the past the Sonic and Mario COMPETITION make this industry reborn, in the near future it's possible that Sonic and Mario COOPERATION make this industry reborn again.

Any day, all the people who buy $60 DLC will have enough of it and if a lot of people make the same this can colapse again and only those two can make the video game industry survive.

I'm really excited to watch what happen.

WIIU Demo

All Stars Racing Transformed launch his demo only on America.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is available for Wii U since a few weeks ago, so if you want to give it a chance now you can!

Since today Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed launch his demo on the  USA eShop. The demo will allow up to 15 tries, and uses 1172 MB in the Wii U memory.

Imposible is nothing

I don't usually post personal stuff, but today is a special day.

Yesterday after two years I finally got the Sonic Unleashed Platinum Trophy, This is one of the rarest platinum trophies of all time. In YourgamerCards.net only the 2% of the players who got the game get it It's under the "Near Imposible" category. 

In Exophase only the 5% of players got it It's a "Out of a Posibility" Trophy.

I have to admit that in the begining I thouught that I never be able to get it. So I focused in get the others. When I earn the trophy for the diferent challenge missions I decide to fight until I get it.

I don't have to lie you, getting this is a pain but I will give you the tips I used to get it.

If you see on Youtube there are videos in which the people get it on 6 and 8 minutes. 

This video is one of the best speed run I ever saw for to get this time (8 minutes) you need to perform extreme advance skill (they use bugs to avoid sections, impossible jumps)

But the one I will recommend to you is not easier but its more posible you will get it.

I follow this video and I get it on 20 minutes.

If you want to try to be a living legend in Sonic Community just remember that in this mission:

Avoid Combat every time is possible: The level has A LOT I repeat A LOT of dangerous places in ALL ZONES. You will be really angry if you spend a lot of time fighting and then lose and repeat the same combats again and again and again.

Do not try to use the BUGS: In the first video I put here the bugs they use are AWESOME but let's be serious are almost impossible to perform. You may spend your entire life trying to perform it.

Use shortcuts: After the first QTA and in the last zone of game are 2 shortcuts that I ENCOURAGE TO USE IT!!! 

In case you won't use the shortcut nº2 (the road blocks if you fail) try to use the werehog to hold the high plataform and not to go the right.

Be patient: You will dominate the diferent zones only with a lot of practice.

If you are very patient and a little lucky you will get this trophy. You will be a god acclaimed by all sonic fans around the world.... may be not, but you will do something that almost nobody did. YOU WILL FEEL AS A KING!!!

Look like Sonic Generations still is selling well.

Since the last time I posted the sells, according to VGCHARTS 92 000 copies of Sonic Generations has been sold.

At this time Sonic Generations has sold 2.43 Million of Copies.

Nintendo has announced that 3DS version of All Stars Racing Transformed will be launched in February 2013.

Also PC gamers will love to hear that PC Version of the game may be launched on February 2013 too.

Also in the Official Sega Forums Steve Lycett told that the game has not the intention to make mods the focus of the game but he cannot assure that the game will not allow mods.

If you tried to download the All Stars Racing Transformed DEMO from the USA PS Store you will not see it.

I have the same trouble too but in the EUROPE and MEXICAN Store the demo is available.

If you have an USA account and if you want to try the demo use an Europe and Mexican Account.

PSVita and 3DS

Steve Lycett told in the Sonic Stadium forums that the PSVita version of All Stars Racing Transformed will not be delayed  and will be launch the next December 7 in Europe but in America will be released later.

But the 3DS version will be delayed althought the official europe web argue that the both version has being 

available since November 16

WiiU Sonic Patch Launch

The wait has being so long but finally Sega launch the Sonic And All Stars Racing Transformed WiiU patch.

This put an end to the terrible bugs that the game had on WiiU version.

Since the game launch some users has reported some Strong Bugs that make imposible to win the game and unlock some characters, this was reported to Sega and Sumo Digital and they started to work inmediatly.

Now finally WiiU users can enjoy the game without those terrible Bugs.

Legendarty Debate: Sonic vs Mario

Well guys I promise and here is, this article you should always remember.

But first I would like to say something: Some Sonic Fans are Nintendo fans and that means Mario Fans, (I think both are great games I love both Sonic and Mario) but I has live at the first videogames world war (Genesis vs SNES) and I was the kind of kid who yelled “Sega does what Nintendon’t” So I said that because I don’t want to disturb Mario Fans.

Well to the point, the website GamesRadar make a debate with 2 of their writers, one is a sonic fan and the other is fan of Mario. They Discuss about the best and worst of both franchises.

I will put the most relevant of the Debate:

Topic 1: Innovation.

Henry (Mario Fan) say that sonic imitates the Mario games, Justin (Sonic Fan) respond that that was false, sonic give a FRESH CHANGE to Platoform games in 90’ even more is Mario who copy sonic, Mario Galaxy concepts were taken from the cancelled Sega Saturn game “Sonic Xtreme”.

My Opinion: Both franchises are innovating a lot.

Topic 2: Gameplay.

Justin say that Sonic gameplay is more entertaining than Mario, giving the player the sheer white-knuckle thrill of a rollercoaster. He runs up walls and across the ceiling, hurtling down grind rails, grabbing hold of rockets, using a metal door like a surfboard down San-Fran style streets and even holding on to a missile just to hitch a lift.

But Henry say something interesting, Sonic is designed to be played as fast as possible and sonic value is the replay.

My opinion: Are different gameplays, is just about what do you like.

Topic 3: 3D Games

Henry said that Mario invented the rules for 3d gameplay and Sonic have problems with 3D gameplay. But Justin remember him that Sonic Adventure has more gameplay variation than any Mario game. Platforming, pinball, bumper car racing, exploration, fishing, shooting, flying… even an entire virtual pet-raising minigame.

My opinion: I think Sonic could give better 3d Experiences but the two Adventures, Colors, Generations were simply Outstanding.

Topic 4: Character Desing, Secondary Characters, Power Ups

Justin remember that Sonic can do all Mario can do and even more (at his way of course) the characters are very equal: Tails, Knuckles, Peach, Yoshi, and about character desing Sonic has a radical look, Mario is timeless furthermore.

My Opinion: Both franchises are very equal.

Topic 5: Sonic 2006 or Mario Hotel?

Justin remember that even Mario has junk games too (Hotel Mario).

My opinion: A lot of people still thinks in sonic as sonic 2006 but the franchise has improved his quality so if nobody talks about Hotel Mario because of the high quality of the franchise Sonic deserves the same.

Well that was the debate and my opinion, you may be thinking who won? Well that was our decision, they made a survey and the winner was: SONIC THE HEDGEHOG with 65.64% of the votes against the 34.36% of the votes.

Why I’m so proud of this, for you can understand me to me was like to see my Real Madrid winning against Barca in Camp Nou, I’m happy of this because I think sonic deserves to be a global icon of videogames.

But this doesn't ends heres, I have been investigating and I have discovered something that may interest you. I',m preparing a special article and will posted in the Special Post Nº2 who will be published this December 20

The Future Of Sonic

Well guys, have you ever wonder what will Sonic Deliver to us on 2013 and beyond?

Well, Sega has confirmed new sonic games on 2013

In the November 2012 edition of Toys ‘N’ Playthings there is an interview with Sissel Henno who happens to be the Head of Brand Licensing at Sega (Europe). The interview was about of Sonic merchandise, but when when asked, “Looking to the future, how do you see your Sonic’s licensing growing over the next year?” Henno replies with…

“Over the next year there will be a big focus across the toy distribution across Europe. Similarly, we will also be growing the apparel, publishing and stationary categories. We will have several new digital titles launching as well as a new boxed game, so there will be plenty of opportunities to link marketing campaigns across games and merchandise”

In this year we saw how Sega is interested in Digital Games. However this is the first time there has been solid evidence that a new AAA Sonic game (my favorites) is in production for 2013.

So what can be? The Takashi IIzuka Sonic Reboot, Adventure3, Colors 2? I really don’t care what will be, The actual lead of Sonic Team Takashi IIzuka has show that he is a talent guy, I know he will impress us again the next year.

But by now, I’m only interested in support All Stars Racing Transformed, as I said in other post the game need to recover in the sales so it’s time to us to attend the call.

I’m really impressed about the 3381 votes of Ryo, I wonder if that makes SEGA think in release Shenmue 3.

When the world is unfair

When a game gets the critical acclaim the people usually buy it immediately.

The new Sonic Game is excellent. All the reviews are favorable. So why has not sell a lot?

Prejudices

A lot of people hates sonic just because they hates him (Problem Logic?) One time one of my classmates gets angry when he saw me playing a sonic game. Why this happen? I only have an explanation everybody who act like that have a face like “This is so much fun than my DLC of $60 (You know what I mean) but I cannot show I waste my money in this junk”

Bad Marketing.

Sega must advertise more their new releases. Putting more games expos, TV Ads etc.

But what I’m promoting you to buy the game?

Sumo Digital Fan Treatment.

A lot of you know that a carácter was found in the game code but doesn’t appear. DLC? NO, it’s surprise (Spoiler: Is A Gift) that Sumo Digital will bring to all fans. PURE FanService

High Quality of the Game.

If you have see the reviews I posted here everybody loves the Amazing Graphics, The Fun Gameplay, Long Career Mode, Good Online Modes, The innovation in the idea of transformable cars and dynamics circuits etc etc etc.

Low Price

A lot of people says “I’ll buy it when gets cheaper” People: The game is now Price Dropped!!!

An AAA game that offer has never be released price dropped at the first release day, remember that is the the LIMITED EDITION of the game they offering just for $39.

That’s only some of the reason you should buy the new Sonic Game.

I have been investigating and I have a bad new.

Sonic And All Stars Racing Transformed is not selling well. In the same time Transformed has sell less than the first All Stars Racing, less than Colors and less than Generations.

I feel really bad because this game is awesome, and I think is time to show what we are made of.

I make a call to all Sonic Fans to buy the game at your local retailer.

Special Post Nº1

Well as I promise here’s my first Special Post, first because 1 time every 2 weeks I will post something that is REALLY IMPORTANT about sonic. LET’S BEGIN!

After all the reviews I post you may saw how the new Sonic Game is acclaimed by all (fans and not fans)

Even more, I have read some of the comments in the reviws pages and I saw a lot this kind of commentary “I’m surprise this sonic doesn’t suck” “8.7 wow, looks that sonic come from afterlife”

It’s right, in the recent years Sega has released really good Sonic Games like Colors, All Stars Racing and Tennis, Generations, All Stars Racing Transformed.

Every one of these games received critical acclaim. So we can say that the black years of sonic (sonic 2006, secrets rings etc) are gone, but I’m afraid to tell you that not at all.

Let me explain, you remember WHY sega released games like sonic 2006, Sega in that days has BAD ATTITUDES, remember “It doesn’t matter the quality of games if we can sell it” Sega careless about the develop of a game and that was obvious.

The thing is that some ATTITUDES that Sega show during the develop of All Stars Racing Transformed put me aware about that could repeat again.

You may not know, but Sega retire some of the budget to Sumo Digital during the final phases of develop, also they forced sumo digital to include BAD CHARACTERS (Danica, Gum etc) and then Sumo decide to work overhorary (by free) only to give us a decent character cast.

Also days after sega fired a lot of employees they announce they will sponsor Danica Patrick, from where they get the money so easy to wast it like that?

Even more, legendary sega characters like vectorman doesn’t appear in the game because sega did focus groups with kids who wasn’t able to handle it.

Then the final bomb, the release date was closing and the game was not finished. (remember sonic 2006) Sumo digital began to ran 1000 per hour to try to finish. (they even work for free a lot of hours)

That kind of sega was the responsable for the damage to sonic and sega reputation with horrible games like sonic 2006.

That is scaring. Did you imagine how the game could be if Sumo doesn’t work for free a lot of hours?

We must give thanks that the game is an Excelent AAA. And we must give thanks to sumo digital for his work.

I don’t want to scare you to buy the game, I REALLY WANT TO ALL YOU BUY THE GAME because the game is excellent.

I only want to you write to sega and when you send your feedback of the game you told them that those attitudes can not be repeated again.
